Lotus has unveiled its latest electric powerhouse, the Emeya, claiming it to be one of the fastest electric GT cars globally. This impressive sedan marks Lotus’ second foray into the full-electric realm, following the Eletre SUV, as part of their “Lifestyle” lineup. Both models will roll off the production line at Geely’s factory in Wuhan, China.

The Emeya takes its place as Lotus’ flagship vehicle, positioned above the Eletre. Sporting a jaw-dropping 905 horsepower from dual electric motors, this sedan boasts acceleration from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in a mere 2.8 seconds, putting it in the same league as the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and even rivaling the lightning-fast Tesla Model S Plaid, which claims a 2-second sprint to the same speed.

Design-wise, it inherits the same aesthetic language as the Eletre, with a striking sports car-inspired front end that incorporates aerodynamic elements for efficiency and improved cooling of the electric powertrain. An active front grille adeptly regulates airflow as needed.

The Emeya prides itself on a low center of gravity, which Lotus asserts will set new standards for ride and handling excellence in the GT segment. To enhance stability at high speeds, a substantial rear spoiler automatically deploys, providing 215 kg of downforce.

Charging capabilities are impressive, with the Emeya capable of handling speeds up to 350 kilowatts. This translates to adding 150 kilometers (93 miles) of range in just five minutes, according to Lotus. While specific range and battery size details remain undisclosed, the company hints that the Emeya will offer similar range capabilities to the Eletre, which houses a 100-kilowatt-hour battery, affording a range of 600 kilometers (373 miles). Moreover, the Emeya is expected to share the Eletre’s 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling faster charging.

For a smooth and adaptable ride, the Emeya features an electronically controlled air suspension system. Inside, the vehicle boasts a generously sized infotainment screen complemented by a 55-inch augmented reality head-up display. Lotus promises real-time road information, navigation, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) data. This includes turn signals, obstacle warnings, lane departure warnings, forward collision alerts, and blind-spot monitoring.

The Emeya displayed during the event accommodated four seats, with two individual seats in the rear instead of a bench seat. Production of this electrifying sedan is scheduled to commence in 2024, with pricing details set to be unveiled around that time.
