Fleet operators must carry out regular vehicle inspections

PAVE, the innovative AI-based inspection platform that automatically inspects and appraises vehicles in real-time, is warning fleets to carry out regular vehicle inspections or get caught out by unexpected costs by over £350 per vehicle.

Regular checks ensure vehicles run efficiently for longer as well as minimising costly downtime whilst simultaneously avoiding unforeseen repairs, which is vital in an era of high business costs.

Such close monitoring will also help improve the life expectancy of a vehicle, allowing the time for fixing any minor damage before it becomes extensive and expensive to rectify.

Traditionally, fleets had to outsource vehicle inspections to third-parties which was, not only time consuming, but costly. As a result, many fleets put off regular checks and were getting caught out by unexpected damage and defects at the end of contracts.

But AI is transforming the landscape of vehicle inspections, empowering anyone with a smart phone or device to carry out a professional-level, trusted, reliable, vehicle inspection.

“By analysing high-resolution images and sensor data, PAVE’s automated inspection platform identifies all types of vehicle damage, from major collision damage to even the subtlest cosmetic defects, such as scratches, dents, and paint damage, that may go unnoticed by the human eye”, says Phil Deegan, UK Head of Business Development at PAVE.

“It allows anyone to become a skilled inspector, whether that be existing personnel at the fleet depot or yard, drivers, or anyone with access to a smartphone, and effortlessly generates detailed condition reports by simply capturing standard imagery of the vehicle itself, eradicating the need for third-parties, streamlining and expediting the inspection process.

“And the accurate, unbiased results enable fleet managers to set wear and tear standards that drive decision making across the fleet.”

Tangible benefits include accuracy, efficiency, and cost savings as AI technology ensures consistent and unbiased inspections that lead to more efficient fleet operations.

Phil added, “We want to maximise vehicle uptime for fleet managers. And now, as AI opens up a new world for vehicle inspections, no matter how big the fleet, the process itself has become more streamline, efficient and accurate than ever before. Fleet managers are now able to make informed decisions faster, and minimise downtime. There’s no time like the present to adopt PAVE into your business to support your processes and improve its efficiency.”

AI and automated inspections’ ability to efficiently capture and analyse vehicle condition data opens up new opportunities for fleet managers to optimise their operations, including identifying at-fault parties, to scheduling service, sourcing replacement parts, and making informed decisions about vehicle disposal. AI’s predictive capabilities allow for proactive fleet management, extending the lifespan of fleet vehicles and minimising expensive downtime.
