It was the most driven car of the event, #DD2017, attended by 70 public relations executives who tested 50 new models on the circuit and Wiltshire roads.
In a first for the 33-year-old event, the latest vans were also evaluated by the professionals and the most popular was the Mercedes Vito, while the other commercial award for Pick-up of the day was carried off by the Volkswagen Amarok. The PR who drove the most was Ford’s Gary Cuthbert.
#DD2017 continued its tradition of charity fundraising and during the day presented Women On The Move Against Cancer chair, Georgia Fox, with a £500 cheque following last year’s event.
Real-time running reports of all the vehicles was produced by ID PR technical service, and large screen monitors informed guests of a car’s availability or location.
Honda, Volvo, Vauxhall, Mitsubishi, Newspress, Renault and Suzuki were signature sponsors this year and afterwards they were thanked by WGMW chairman, Robin Roberts, who said its success underlined its continuing popularity as a globally unique event.
He concluded, “The support of the industry, the group’s organising committee backed up by our members and Castle Combe, and this year’s extended involvement by ID PR, has made it the best I can remember.”
