Following on from the great success of the CV Show earlier this year, next week SMMT returns to the NEC to help stage the automotive aftermarket trade show Automechanika Birmingham.

A key focus for SMMT is to increase the volume of UK parts that go into British-built vehicles and this show, double the size of last year, plays a key role in that. We’ll be hosting our “speed dating for industry” event Meet the Buyer at the show next week to help with this mission.

If you want to network with some of the most senior figures in the industry, SMMT will also be hosting the biannual Open Forum next week. The event brings together more than 300 automotive decision makers from OEMs, tier ones, as well as small and medium sized suppliers to highlight the trends and technologies that will influence the next generation of vehicles. The focus of Open Forum will be the digitalisation of manufacturing and the opportunities for the UK supply chain in this field.

SMMT has also put together a showcase of the latest tech, with its new Connected and Digital Technology Zone in hall 6. This range of exciting and interactive elements including virtual and augmented reality, brand new vehicles and robotics is certainly a must see for any attendees.

In addition to these events, SMMT will once again be hosting a Members Lounge on stand 6F10 – if you fancy a break from the business of the show, please do come over for a chat, coffee and to charge your phone.
