Mitsubishi Recalls 48,000 Models

Mitsubishi To Power Up Shelsley Walsh

Mitsubishi Australia has urgently recalled thousands of cars over fears they could generate excess heat and cut out mid-drive.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on Monday announced a recall of more than 48,000 vehicles.

The recall affects the Mitsubishi Lancer (CJ & CF) 15-16MY, Mitsubishi ASX (XB) 15-15.5MY and Mitsubishi Outlander (ZJ & ZK) 14MY & 16-17MY.

The ACC said the issue was that power relays could generate excess heat causing relay failure.

‘The affected Power Relay/s may generate excessive heat, resulting in relay failure,’ the ACCC said in a statement.

‘As a result, the engine may stall during driving, fail to restart or failsafe protection may be activated, with a loss of engine power.’

‘An unexpected loss of engine power may result in an accident.’

The vehicles were sold between December 2014 and February 2016.

Customers are urged to contact Mitsubishi Motors Australia on 1300 1312 11 or their preferred Dealer.

‘When parts become available, Mitsubishi Motors Australia will contact all known owners by mail and advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer to replace the affected Power Relays,’ the ACCC said.
