As part of a major revitalisation of its fleet, Millers Oils, one of the UK’s leading independent blenders of advanced lubricants, oils and fuel additives, has invested in two fuel-efficient Renault Trucks Range Ts as the latest additions to its line-up.
The 26-tonne Range T380 6×2 rigid curtainsided vehicles have been supplied on a 6-year contract hire deal through BRS Ltd and follow two Renault Range D Wide 18t curtainsiders which have been running successfully on Millers Oils’ nine-strong HGV fleet since 2014.
Delivering lubricants across the UK, the new Range T380 sleeper cabs with Roco Truck Bodies’ rigid curtains, Mellor Flow Trans’ Inter Pump Hydraulics and full rear closure tail lifts, are specified with the Renault Trucks Comfort Pack and Fuel Eco Pack. The cabs are equipped with the driver in mind, with options including air-suspended seats, TV, fridge and microwave.
Millers Oils’ operations team’s comfort was key in their new vehicle selection, as Managing Director, Jamie Ryan, explains: “Our drivers are out on the road for 2 or 3 days at a time, so it’s vital that we create an environment where they feel appreciated for the great work that they do. I was first introduced to the Range T two years ago at the CV Show; I sat in the truck and was extremely impressed by the size and comfort of the cab. Our drivers’ satisfaction is highly catered for in these top spec Range Ts and we’ve even added extras such as air suspended seats, three ambient lighting modes, microwave, fridge, TV and DVD player – they really are a ‘home from home’!”
Fuel efficiency was also a critical factor, as Jamie Ryan continues: “Through our Eclipse fuel treatments, Millers Oils is working hard to increase fuel efficiency, reduce emissions and maintain clean injectors. Our specific aim was to invest in energy saving vehicles, like the Range T, which has had aerodynamic improvements made and our investment in these new vehicles will help sustain and prolong our fleet life as well as helping to protect the environment too.”
He concludes: “The service from BRS and JDS Trucks (Morley) has been excellent and when we had some initial teething issues, the team jumped into action and proactively worked to put this right, quickly and efficiently. We’ve been delighted with the Range T so far and it really is a moving advert and ambassador for our business. As well as improving our fleet’s reliability we have also reduced the overall running costs of our fleet, so we are so pleased we made the move to Renault Trucks and BRS.”
