CELEB: Clare Balding to speak at SMMT Annual Dinner

Broadcaster Clare Balding OBE has been revealed as the celebrity guest speaker for this year’s Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders’ (SMMT) Annual Dinner.

Balding, who has worked in TV and radio broadcasting since 1994, will provide the after-dinner address at the event, which takes place on November 25 at Grosvenor House, London.

After becoming the face of horse racing coverage in 1998, Balding has worked on five Olympic Games, four Paralympics and three Winter Olympics.

She has also continued to present horse racing for Channel Four and has appeared on BT Sport.

This year’s SMMT event will bring together more than 1,000 guests from across industry, government and media for an evening of networking and discussion.

Tim Abbott, President of the SMMT and Managing Director of BMW Group UK, will make the keynote address at the Dinner.

Mike Hawes, Chief Executive of the SMMT, said: “The SMMT Annual Dinner is the must-attend event in the automotive calendar.

“Clare Balding is a highly entertaining speaker and I’m particularly keen to hear her take on horse power of a different kind.

“With less than a year to go to the general election, our Annual Dinner will also provide a perfect setting for the industry to come together, discuss our achievements and, more importantly, identify what we will need from the political arena in the year ahead.”
