Mark is the Head of EV Strategy at SMS plc – a company that is at the very heart of Britain’s modern energy revolution and pivotal to realising a greener country and a more sustainable world.
In his role, Mark is responsible for leading a team of specialists to design, deploy and manage SMS’s hardware agnostic electric vehicle (EV) chargepoint infrastructure across the UK. They support industries across the public and private sectors with the transition from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric vehicles, building zero-carbon energy strategies, utilising SMS’s data-driven energy services, deep engineering skills, and asset funding capability.
Mark has over ten years’ experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining SMS in October 2020, he held the position of Lead Energy Consultant at Ineco Group, the leading energy consultancy and procurement specialists. In this role he managed a portfolio of NHS clients including St George’s Hospital, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and University Hospital London, advising on improving efficiencies in energy spend and consumption.
Mark began his career in fleet acquisition and management working for Platinum Fleet Management and MotivaGroup. He was responsible for managing fleets for both SMEs and large corporate organisations. Mark worked with many high-profile multinational accounts including: EMAP Media Group, Anheuser-Busch (Europe), CAP, Britvic Soft Drinks to name a few.
Aside from SMS, Mark spends his time with his 3 children (14, 17 and 27), and balancing his passion for hiking, cycling and caravanning. He holds a MA in Strategic HR from De Montfort University and a BA Hons in Business Enterprise from the University of Wolverhampton.
