Vandals attack ULEZ cameras as legitimate ‘protestors’

Following the expansion of the London ULEZ (Ultra Low Emissions Zone), some of the cameras have been vandalised from being doused in red paint, covered with bags to being actually cut down.

Covered ULEZ CamerasSelf-styled “blade runners” claim to have destroyed over 600 ULEZ cameras. 3,000 cameras are required to enforce the expansion, and right-wing media such as The Mail, Telegraph and The Sun have come out in support of this criminal activity led by “Captain Gusto” and his band as they tear down the cameras which, in the end, will have to be paid for by London rate-payers.

The Telegraph quotes one of these vandals as doing “unpaid voluntary work.”

The editor of the Sunday Telegraph wrote: “The mayor’s nasty, vindictive Ulez cash grab has triggered a wave of French-style civil disobedience, radicalised an outer suburbia that the snooty inner London elite had long forgotten even existed.”

However, the country ranks the climate high among its top concerns, Ipsos finding it actually jumped 13 points in August, putting it at third place, with immigration fifth.

A senior tory MP, Iain Duncan Smith says: “a lot of people in my constituency [who] have been cementing up cameras and putting plastic bags over them. I am happy for them to do it because they are facing an imposition that no one wants and they have been lied to about it … People have had enough.”

The new Uxbridge MP, Steve Tuckwell is an administrator for Facebook groups that have been protesting the expansion of the clean air zone. The pages, which have been set up for several London boroughs, include comments calling for “more people” to get involved in damaging the cameras needed to police the zone, as well as tips on how to get away with cutting wires and updates on the criminal damage.

Conspiracy posts have also linked Mr Khan to al-Qaeda terrorists and his policy to clean up the capital’s toxic air to Muslims.

The Standard newspaper contacted London Conservative Party headquarters, Mr Tuckwell was removed as an admin for the ‘Hillingdon says no to Ulez expansion’ group and some of the posts taken down. His office has declined to comment.

The Standard reported in May that Paul Osborn, the leader of Harrow council, was under fire for helping run the Harrow says no to Ulez expansion Facebook group where members celebrated the destruction of cameras.

Councillors who are moderators in the group later said posts encouraging criminal damage “cannot and will not be allowed” and they were taken down.

The high court last month dismissed a legal challenge by five Conservative-led councils against the expansion with a judge finding that the legal basis to expand the Ulez was in line with previous decisions on road charges within the capital.

  1. camera vandals are heroes, but please don’t vote labour because they want ulez all over the country and will road tax EV’s as well

    • These people are heroes if only l were 10 years younger, khan the dictator and boris the prat should be made some how accountable for there actions to the general Public, what ever happened to democracy in the Uk

      • They are vandals that will cost the rate payers of London millions

  2. Will the bloke who approved the original ULEZ scheme take any responsibility or cop any flak from the press? Probably not, as Boris never takes responsibility for anything.

  3. TABVEYO CHAPISA ,,peaceful activist”? Just because you are delusional and retarded and like to mess up people’s life, doesn’t mean it is right what you and your disgusting creatures are doing. You guys are nothing more the just a binch of hypocrits protectected by abusive laws and abusive government. But don’t worry, one day hopefully people had enough with abuse and do the right thing to run you over!!!!
Also this ,,vandals” are literally standing up against and abusive and corrupt mayor supported by abusive and corrupt laws! But judging by your comment, you and the rest like you, should not be part of society and have any right to interfere!!!!!!!

  4. john you are talking rubbish pollutine in the outer boroughs is minimum.if the mayor is concerned about o
pollution then ban vehicles from London but that won’t make any money will it

  5. simply the mayor has lied.its just a way to make money.you can pollute as much as you like if you pay

  6. total bollocks the air in the underground is far worse, and yet nothing has been said about that khan needs sacking immediately and all benefits of being a part of the wishy washy left with it. personally I’d find a way to deport him if possible

  7. It’s strange, isn’t it?
When Just Stop Oil activists cary out peaceful demonstrations, the right wing media and its right wing government shout obscenities and pass tough new laws against the peaceful activists.
Now here we are, the same nasty media and government are turning a blind eye to acts of vandalism and criminality, with even nasty Ian Duncan Smith encouraging it.
    Shame on you fools.
Climate change is happening all around us, and yet you hide your heads in the sand and pretend nothing is happening.
National elections can’t come soon enough. We need to dump all of you in the dust bins were you belong.
    Disgusted.
    Tabs.

  8. More mainstream media confirmation bias i.e. telling people what they want to hear for money.
Air pollution is harming thousands of people yet people have been brainwashed by 100 years marketing and lobbying for Big Auto and Big Oil at the expense of people generally.
Driving is not a right. It is a privilege for competent people. The carbon footprint of the auto industry is massive and unsustainable.
TfL focusing on air pollution is just one small part of the harm that is being done.
If anything there should be greater cost for not attending to the climate crisis that we are encouraging by our willful ignorance and irresponsibility.
Destruction of public assets is wrong thinking and costs taxpayers both directly (tax) & indirectly (health).
    Shame on these fools.
