Fleet Managers urged to check management software ahead of Brexit

Chevin Fleet Solutions is urging fleet managers to check their fleet management software capabilities to make sure that it can cope with additional paperwork and compliance demands ahead of EU Exit decisions.

Despite the extension to Article 50 until 31st October, new documents are now required for travel irrespective of wider EU Exit negotiations.

These are:

  • The need for hauliers and commercial drivers to register certain commercial trailers to drive internationally.
  • Individuals planning to drive in certain countries outside the EU may require an International Driving Permit.

Fleet Managers need to be sure that their drivers have the right paperwork in place before travelling into Europe and fleet management software readily assists with this. The tools are in place to manage, track and trace paperwork, automate processes, reduce administration and support compliance to help prevent any costly cross border holdups.

Ashley Sowerby, Managing Director, Chevin says, ““There are fleets that continue to use dated systems or even spreadsheets to manage important paperwork which could leave them at risk when travelling in Europe.”

“Advanced system such as FleetWave have the tools in place to handle these requirements. We urge fleet managers to use the next six months to review their current systems and practices to make the necessary changes in advance of the Brexit outcome.”
