ANGRY: Do you still enjoy driving?
Sky-high fuel costs and congestion are two reasons why a third of motorists do not enjoy driving anymore, the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) have found.
An IAM poll revealed fuel bills (51%), traffic jams (41%), finding driving boring (28%) and having less leisure time (25.9%) are the key reasons for motorists becoming disillusioned.
The road safety charity also found more than 60% of respondents felt other drivers’ behaviour made them nervous most, followed by bad weather and driving near to lorries.
Elsewhere, 39% of motorists still consider driving for fun a hobby, while 53% believe they are better-than-average drivers.
Simon Best, Chief Executive of the IAM, said: “With congestion and fuel prices it’s easy to understand why many people think driving is a chore.
“But the UK still has some of the most beautiful roads in the world and if you have the right skills and confidence in your ability driving can be as enjoyable as ever.”
