LANDMARK: 150,000 EV miles for C&C Taxis
A pioneering Cornwall cab company have clocked up 150,000miles and more than 37,000 individual fares across their fleet of all-electric Nissan Leafs.
St. Austell-based C&C Taxis were the first cab operator in the county to employ a 100% electric vehicle, adding the first Leaf to their ten-strong fleet 12months ago.
With this number now increased to five, the company have slashed more than £40,000 off their annual fuel bill with the Leaf costing around 2p-per-mile to run.
Michelle Williams, Owner of C&C Taxis, said: “When we took our first Leaf a year ago we could never have imagined how successful it would have been.
“The fact we now have five and have hit the 150,000mile mark says it all.
“Investing in the Leaf has probably been the best decision we’ve ever made as a company.
“Our customers love them and most of the big hotels in the area now use us as their taxi company of choice, which has been a real coup.
“In fact, many of the hotels now ask guests who book a taxi whether they’d like an electric one and then specifically ask for a Leaf.
“The Leaf has been truly transformational for our business.”

The company still operate a number of diesel cars for longer fares but very much see electric vehicles as their future.
Supplied by Nissan retailer West End Motors, Bodmin, the Leafs – which average 40 daily fares – can be charged from 0-80% in 30minutes with the company’s county-exclusive rapid charger.
James Holder, Electric Vehicle Specialist at West End Motors, added: “The success C&C Taxis has enjoyed with its Leafs is really inspirational and clearly demonstrates just how practical and realistic a Leaf is as an everyday car for the vast majority of people and businesses in the area.
“The fact is that most people do a daily commute that’s well within the range of the Leaf and so they could very easily be enjoying the benefits of super-low running costs without any compromise.
“The Leaf is a very spacious and generously equipped family hatchback.”
