UK's First Range T Mini Mid-Lifts With PET Regs Hit The Road For Clugston Distribution Services

Clugston Distribution Services Limited, specialists in bulk tanker transport, has taken delivery of the UK’s first Range T Mini Mid-Lift ADR with PET regs for use with Petroleum Tankers. Supplied by Renault Trucks approved dealer, Thompson Commercials Hull, the three 44-tonne Range T460.26 MML tractor units have Safe Loading Pass (SLP) certification demanded by all petroleum refineries.

The new Range Ts are additional vehicles for Clugston’s 100+-strong fleet and come fitted with hydraulic-driven pumping equipment and alloy wheels.  They will be used to deliver road fuels to retail filling station forecourts, supermarket chains and customer fuel storage depots and bunkering.

Clugston’s Fleet Manager, Nigel Graham, says: “Together with Thompson Commercials we’ve worked hard to prepare these vehicles for use within the Fuel Petroleum transportation sector. They have to meet the stringent requirements of ADR and SLP so that they can be used to get in and out of the UK’s fuel refineries and we are extremely pleased with the final result.”

Vehicle whole life operating costs along with payload requirements were the driving force in Clugston’s new vehicle selection.

Nigel Graham explains: “We have been operating Renaults Trucks within our UK fleet exclusively since 2006, so we know the products really well and have found all the Renault commercial vehicle range ideally suited to our varied transportation activities. The whole life operating costs of the Premium tractor unit was the lowest we have experienced and the Range T is looking to be just as impressive; with the MML derivative also being significantly lighter than the standard 6×2, we will see increased payloads and yet lower running costs.”

He continues: “The Range T MML also offers greater flexibility across our fleet with the extra chassis space for fitment of our various ancillary equipment requirements. We also take maximum advantage of the Renault Optifleet on board fuel management system, vehicle tracking and various fuel economy pack driver aids that are all available within the Range T.“

Andy Cross, Thompson Commercials (Hull) comments on the deal: “We’re very proud that the first Range T MMLs in the country were converted by our depot in Grimsby from the usual factory fit ADR specification to full PET Regs (SLP). We worked closely with Clugstons to deliver these vehicles and very much look forward to working with them on any future vehicle requirements.”
