Lex Autolease, the UK’s leading fleet vehicle and funding provider, has leased the 60,000th vehicle through its broker division – just eight months on from passing the 50,000 milestone.

The vehicle – a Mercedes Sprinter van – has been leased to Brighton-based Shutterly Fabulous, manufacturer and supplier of premium wooden plantation window shutters founded in 2001.  The deal was secured through Vehicles 2 Lease (V2L), which has worked with Lex Autolease for the past three years. Established in 2008, it currently runs 311 vehicles on behalf of businesses nationally.

The Bury-headquartered business specialises in the leasing of LCVs and works closely with Lex Autolease to supply and configure LCVs to any specification.

Ben Humphries, Director at Vehicle2Lease, said: “Businesses are becoming increasingly aware of leasing as a way to access the latest technology in commercial vehicles, and enjoying the improved cash flow that comes from leasing rather than buying outright and having a depreciating asset on their balance sheets. Coupled with the on-going economic resurgence across Britain’s small and medium sized businesses, it is little surprise that we’re seeing more and more firms opt to source vehicles this way.

“Working with Lex Autolease means we can offer our customers the opportunity to tap into the scale and expertise of the UK’s largest fleet management provider, whilst at the same time working with our team which understands the specific needs and challenges of SME businesses.”

Steve Cocks, Director of Lex Autolease’s Broker Division, said: “The upward trend in vehicle leasing to the UK’s SMEs shows little sign of abating. It was only in September that we were celebrating a year-on-year rise of 31 per cent in our broker fleet and reaching the landmark figure of 50,000 vehicles.

“This is testament to the excellent service delivered by our broker partners and their understanding of customers’ needs. It also reflects the increased awareness amongst businesses of the benefits of contract hire and leasing which is driving considerable growth in commercial vehicles and personal contracts across our broker division.”
