Airmax Remote, a leading telematics service provider to corporate fleets and who are at the forefront of UK telematics technologies, today revealed some of the key significant benefits delivered to Infinis, a leading, diversified, distributed power producer from methane-rich and natural gas, resulting from the successful implementation of Airmax Remote’s advanced telematics solution across their fleet of 180 vehicles.

Infinis appointed Airmax Remote following a tender process to re-evaluate the providers and processes around the telematics requirements of the business. Airmax Remote supplied Infinis with its Premium Plus telematics service level to support Infinis’ health and safety objectives and by providing greater visibility of its employees, who frequently operate on their own and in remote parts of the UK.

In addition to identifying vehicle location, Airmax Remote’s solution can also detail each one of the driver’s individual journey details and vehicle status. Infinis can thereby deploy a vehicle and an engineer based on important additional considerations such as road condition, distance and appropriate vehicle type as opposed to just dispatching the nearest engineer, helping to ensure efficient use of time and resources whilst being able to predict arrival times.

As well as providing greater visibility of employees on the road and assisting to improve the business’s sustainability footprint, the Airmax technology is also showing a significant positive impact on driver behaviour, whereby employees have access to their driver portal which delivers a scorecard based on their driving style and identifying core areas for improvement. For the first time, Infinis can now analyse data and inform strategies to improve driver and road safety, reduce wear and tear and make effective use of the engineer’s time.

There are 180 vehicles on the Infinis fleet, mostly split between Vauxhall Vivaro vans and Toyota Hilux 4×4 and these hard-working vehicles generate over 100,000 hours of driving time and can amass total mileage in excess of 3.5 million miles per annum.

Analysis of driver data between 2018 and 2019 reveals significant results and improvements in driver behaviour including;

  • 5% decrease in high-risk driving hours
  • 39% decrease in harsh acceleration
  • 58% decrease in high revving
  • 59% decrease in higher speed events and overall reduction of all speeding events
  • 2% decrease in harsh braking

Commenting in the successful deployment of the Airmax Remote Premium service, Duane Longthorn, Infinis Head of Procurement, said: “Telematics is about communicating the driving data and using this to influence and improve driver behaviour, not only the obvious speed elements, but also harsh braking, over-revving and idling along with the improved elements for logistics and planning. At Infinis we invest heavily in fuel and the maintenance of the fleet and the Airmax Remote system provides us with a suite of reports that assist us in improving driver safety behaviour and driving down fleet costs. We are very proud to be one of the few companies in the UK that is delivering a positive impact against climate change and this technology is proving to be a valuable tool in assisting to deliver our vision of generating a low carbon future”

Richard Perham, Group Managing Director of Airmax Remote, comments: “We are delighted to have delivered all the benefits and savings to Infinis via their adoption of our Premium Plus Service. The figures representing improvements in driver behaviour further illustrate the power of our technology in delivering significant change, while empowering and incentivising employees and reducing costs for the business.”
