CRASH: Fleet accidents rife

More than 850,000 company vehicle drivers have been involved in an accident so far this year, new research has found.

The study, by In-Car Cleverness, found that 18.9% of all accident claims the Automotive and Insurance Solutions (AIS) Group have dealt with in 2013 involve business vehicles.

Of those, 8% – representing 76,545 incidents across the UK – have resulted in potentially costly liability disputes.

In-Car Cleverness claim the integration of technology into fleets can reduce direct and indirect costs from liability disputes.

Tim Eaves, Commercial Director at In-Car Cleverness, said: “As a result, in all bar the most complicated cases involving multiple-vehicles, the technology is able to demonstrate where the blame lies.

“In addition to the time saved in dealing with disputes, it can have a positive impact on insurance premiums.”
