Essex-based design and manufacture tuning box firm TDI-Tuning’s entire product range is, of course, unaffected by the recent VW Group emission testing scandal.

“Our tuning boxes are designed to increase a vehicle’s power and torque, and typically, they increase driving efficiency with corresponding improvements in fuel economy,” explains TDI-Tuning Principal Graeme King.

“Unlike an ECU remap, our tuning boxes do not affect the ECU’s programming: instead, they intercept some signals and modify them ‘on the fly’ whilst still working within the ECU safety features. We maintain that, thanks to the increases in power and torque, most drivers will spend less time ‘labouring’ the engine, a time when emissions are at their highest (but not actually measured by ANY government test); this change in driving style is why TDI customers generally report improved fuel efficiency.

The software in TDI-Tuning’s diesel tuning and petrol tuning boxes is totally customised to every vehicle. “The software is created in-house during a lengthy testing and refinement process and though measuring emissions is not part of our process, we are committed to improving efficiency (MPG) as well as power and torque output,” Graeme points out.

TDI-Tuning’s products produce ‘real world’ performance improvements for all vehicles and this is unchanged for VW Group cars.

The firm tunes over 4,500 different makes and models of petrol and diesel vehicles (with numbers growing weekly), and is proud of its products and service.

TDI-Tuning maintains a 5-star satisfaction rating on 3rd party review site, Feefo.

The VW Group Emission issue: FAQs

“Are your products affected by the scandal?”

No. Tuning boxes from TDI-Tuning will continue to provide marked performance gains for affected (or non-affected) VW Group vehicles, as they have always done.

“Can your products reduce emissions for VW Group vehicles?”

We cannot and do not promise emission reduction; however, thanks to the increases in power and torque, most drivers will spend less time ‘labouring’ the engine, a time when emissions are at their highest (but not actually measured by ANY government test).

“Do I need to return my Tuning Box for an update?”

Not at all, our boxes are unaffected by the ‘cheat switch’ programming present in some VW Group vehicles.

“If my vehicle is recalled, do I need to remove my Tuning Box?” This is entirely up to you. You should be able to leave your box in place as it is unaffected by the issue. Owners, however, may wish to remove the box for a variety of reasons, and can do so quickly and easily, leaving no trace of its presence.
