ROLE: Peter Barber new RHA Chairman

Peter Barber is the new National Chairman of the Road Haulage Association (RHA) after taking over from Richard Fry.

Barber, of Milton Keynes-based W H Barley Transport, said he was delighted to assume his new role.

“I am very much looking forward to taking on the role of National Chairman,” he said.

“The RHA is a members’ organisation and I look forward to representing all members in regards to all the issues that affect our industry.

“I am very honoured to accept the position and look forward to continuing to build upon the excellent foundations laid by my predecessors, and in particular to our outgoing Chairman, Richard Fry.

“Members can rest assured that I, along with the Association’s Board of Directors, will always have our members’ interests at heart”.

Predecessor Fry, of Shepton Mallet-based Framptons Transport Services, said he was pleased to be leaving on a high after the RHA regained a firm financial footing.

The Association’s 2012 Annual Report and Accounts were approved at this week’s Annual General Meeting.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my term as National Chairman of the RHA and I am proud to have played a part in its revitalization,” said Fry.

“The RHA team, led by Chief Executive Geoff Dunning, have been a pleasure to work with.

“Their hard work and dedication are the reason why today’s RHA is the UK’s leading road transport association.”
