Go Smarter Business Network includes Smartgo workplace travel programme to encourage shift to more sustainable modes of travel.

WSP I Parsons Brinckerhoff, one of the world’s leading professional services firms, has commissioned specialist sustainable transport consultancy, Go Travel Solutions, to support their delivery of a new Go Smarter Business Network in areas of North East England.

The Go Smarter Business Network has been developed to meet the transport needs of businesses across the North East Combined Authority (NECA) area and help encourage employees to get out of their cars and adopt a greener commute to work.

The Network will be focussed around four facilitated meetings per year where members can hear from professionals in this field and share knowledge and best practice with each other. It also provides member organisations with access to exclusive travel discounts for their staff through membership of Go Travel Solutions’ Smartgo workplace travel programme.

Aside from their involvement in the Go Smarter Business Network, Smartgo operate workplace travel networks in other areas of the country with more planned. Smartgo has been developed to provide employers and their staff with a package of travel discounts and a web based membership system to engage employers and their staff.

Claire Whitfield, Associate at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, added: “We have been involved in the delivery of the Go Smarter to Work and Local Motion business engagement programmes over the last four years. “We look forward to continuing our relationships with organisations and developing new ones, and are confident that the Network will go from strength to strength because of our experience and the commitment of businesses in the North East to move towards a cleaner, greener and healthier future”.

Robin Pointon, Managing Director at Go Travel Solutions added: “We’re delighted to be working with WSP I Parsons Brinckerhoff to promote sustainable travel. They are widely recognised for demonstrating innovation across their suite of professional services. The addition of our Smartgo model is a great example of a collaboration between two very different businesses that can deliver enhanced services for clients and for employers and their staff.”
