STAR: Honda CR-V achieved top NCAP rating

Honda CR-V and the Citroen C4 Picasso have both achieved the coveted five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

The British-built CR-V’s safety features include Vehicle Stability Assist, Electric Power Steering, Emergency Stop System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Cruise Control, Pedestrian Protection and Whiplash Mitigation System.

Honda have scored five stars for each of their models tested since February 2009, when the current scheme was introduced.

Euro NCAP also revealed two new Advanced rewards for further Autonomous Emergency Braking Systems.

The Mitsubishi Forward Collision Mitigation, available on the Mitsubishi Outlander tested in 2012, alerts drivers to imminent threats of rear end collision.

Meanwhile, Fiat’s City Brake Control – available as an option on the Fiat Panda and Fiat 500L – provides the driver with technology helping to avoid low-speed crashes.

This is achieved by optimising the braking autonomously if needed.
