The handy work
Technician heroes get the Events Team back on the road
BEN, the automotive industry charity, is reliant on the generosity of its supporters. When repair was required on the bodywork of a transport vehicle, Thatcham Research, experts in safety, security and crash repair, came to the rescue.
Three members of staff from Thatcham’s Repair Technology Centre kindly donated their time free of charge and worked tirelessly for a week to repair the vehicle. Even one of their apprentices joined the team and was able to gain some valuable experience as the team set to work repairing a series of dents, stripping back paint and applying primer, ready for a subsequent vehicle wrap. All in all the team carried out around £4,000 worth of repair on the van.
Thatcham Research is a regular supporter of BEN and for the last 3 years has ensured that all proceeds from their annual Repair Focus event are donated to the automotive charity.
“We are always delighted to support our industry charity in whatever way we can, so when we heard that BEN needed help with a vehicle it seemed the perfect opportunity for our repair experts to demonstrate their skills. We now look forward to welcoming BEN to Repair Focus where we hope to raise even more for this extremely worthwhile cause,” said Iain Wallace, Communications Executive, Thatcham Research.
Kelly Neal, BEN’s Events Manager, said: “I can’t thank the technician team at Thatcham enough. They have helped repair the Peugeot Boxer van that’s it used to transport our Events stands and equipment, without this we wouldn’t be able to carry out our valuable work and raise awareness of BEN.”
