IMPROVEMENT: VOSA announce test pass boost

Pass rates at annual tests continue to improve across the board, the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) have reported.

In their 2012/13 effectiveness report, VOSA listed first-time pass rates for buses at 81.5%, HGVs at 77.6% and trailers at 84.3%.

A significant increase in the number of non-VOSA sites testing heavy vehicles and buses has also been reported.

During 2012/13, an average of 55% of tests were carried out at non-VOSA sites, compared to 39% in 2011-2012.

Today the figure stands at around 70%.

Alastair Peoples, Chief Executive of VOSA and DSA, said: “The findings within this report support what I have always believed, that collaboration between VOSA and the transport sector can lead the way to safer roads for UK motorists.

“Our annual effectiveness report is an excellent way for the industry to see how well  we are doing and what needs to be focused on to see us continue to drive up the standards of all road users.”
