A Mitsubishi dealership in Coventry has joined forces with the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance for 2015.

Oak Tree Garages will be sponsoring the charity over the next 12 months and will be supporting it at fundraising events throughout the year.

The service, based at Coventry Airport, receives no government funding and needs £1.7m a year to keep going. It provides vital, lifesaving cover for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.

Darren Clarke, General Manager at the Mitsubishi dealership, said: “We’re delighted to support the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. The charity provides a fantastic service and as a local business we want to help them as much as we can. During the next year we will be attending a number of local events with them and we’re looking forward to having a great partnership.”

The dealership will also lend the service Mitsubishi vehicles when required and collect donations from customers.

Katie Lockton, Fundraising Co-ordinator for the service, said: “To have a leading brand like Oak Tree Garages Mitsubishi supporting us is phenomenal […] Support from local companies like Oak Tree Garages Mitsubishi is vital for us because we don’t get any government funding. We are looking to the community to keep our Air Ambulance flying. Having the support of Oak Tree is going to be fantastic.”

Set up more than 10 years ago, the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance carries out an average of 1,800 rescue missions per year, at a cost of around £1,700 per mission.
